NOVEMEBER: ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS
Heyooo, it’s ya friendly neighborhood Javi!
It is now November! Which means get ready to incessantly hear Mariah Carey for the next 50 days against your own will! All I want for Christmas is some variety in playlists this year… Please…
BUT! Instead of dreading awful Christmas playlists for the rest of the year, let's take a second to appreciate the things that happened this past month and build excitement for what’s to come!
Without further ado…!
This past month has had a lot of art come out of it, and I’m happy that was the case. I officially got back to streaming this past month where I went back and completed some of those daily drawing requests I got over the summer. And as a result, I now have you guys in chat asking for new requests – which makes my heart full knowing so many of you want to see some of your favorite characters done in my style, truly. I did Luffy, Tanjiro, the Hamburgler (lol), a Xenomorph, David Martinez from Cyberpunk, V1 Ultrakill, and Johnny Joestar! I haven’t officialized my new stream schedule right now, but follow me on TikTok and Twitch and set those notifs!
Not only that, but I finally was able to receive my copy of the August issue of the New Paltz Photo Works newspaper where I was able to show off some pages of my comics! It was a great feeling to see my work in a physical newspaper like this as my mind went back to when I would pick up newspapers in High School and I would actually read them – but I do remember reading comic strips in the paper; Garfield, Peanuts, Calvin & Hobbes (usually all reprints). And now here are my comics in the local paper. Wildly surreal. Shout out to Ryan up in New Paltz who runs the paper and proudly does so! You’re doing great work, man!
AND! I officially released the second issue of From the Pen to Your Eyes!
From the Pen to Your Eyes Part II is now live here on the site, and this issue is very encompassing for my career in multiple ways. With the second issue to this anthology series of mine, I have now compiled all of my short stories into these comics. You can pick up both issues and discover how much my style and my art has evolved since 2020 and hopefully it’ll inspire you to make your own stories. Another encompassing aspect, this issue is now the second comic I have self-published since going solo and I’m damn proud of it. It’s another reminder to myself that I can do this. Because I’ve already done it twice now! I’ll do it again. And again. And again. The final encompassing aspect of this is that I can officially start building the next chapter of my career. I won’t be focusing on short stories for a while so I can better aim my attention to a couple of big projects I’m lining up for myself. This might be the last issue of this series, it might not, we’ll see.
That said, what are these big projects I tease, you might ask?
For those who follow, I teased my next project as something of a love letter to NY. I’m still not officially announcing anything on this project juuuust yet. BUT I’ll at least sprinkle these details for now: it’s ambitious, it’s definitely a little crazy, it’s multi-media, it’ll probably consume my life over the next year and change, but it’s gonna be worth. I know it. If you follow me on socials, you’ll definitely be seeing more and more teasers for this project as we get closer to launch. So for now, stay tuned!
But before you go, it’s time for an announcement!
On November 21st, I will be participating in the Big Apple Comic-Con for their 30th year as they host it in the historical New Yorker hotel right across from Madison Square Garden! This venue holds so much history, especially for comics. Before the Javits Center, NYCC would take place in the New Yorker. Scott Snyder would go there for Comic-Con as a kid and would get Spider-Man signed by Todd MacFarlane. Now I’ll be in this space, hopefully inspiring someone else to make their own comics one day. So, if you’re free November 21st, head over to their site and get yourself a ticket!
Hope to see you there!
